Introducing myself and my view of Graphics

Hello my name is Abbie and I just started year 9. I have autism and one of my favourite hyper fixated subjects is designing. I chose Graphic Design as a subject because I love designing and creating things hands on, I really struggle in normal subjects like maths and English because they involve a lot of different complex things but I’ve always found Graphics easier to understand and I don’t mind making mistakes because I learn through them.

I found out what Graphics was a few years ago when my older brother did it for GCSE. I would see his work and design and ask questions and it always seemed like something I was interested in. I’ve always found creating and imagination my strong suit and he did too which made me think to try it out so I would have fun on my computer and watch YouTube all about graphics and I would spend hours doing it. Then when I came to Farringtons School I saw that graphics was on my rotation for my four carousel subjects, I loved it so much and one of my favourite topics was photoshop because I had freedom to just make what my brain thought by adding things together. In year eight I didn’t have graphics on my carousel but I saw it was an option for year 9 and I put it as my first option!
